Tue Jan 01, I remember them being “meh” for 3D performance, but okay otherwise. At Intel’s site I found this: So even if they did work, I’d be gaining nothing. Intel no longer hosts i drivers, and advises owners of ibased cards to use the drivers. More programmable features of professional class Real3D products such as stenciling were dropped.

They made a deal with Chips and Wnd to be their world wide distribution partner of high-end graphics.
The i can execute multiple 3d commands at the same time and each stage of the pipeline can simultaneously work on different primitives or portions of the same primitive.
However the Intel abandoned texturing from local memory and can only use AGP memory. It couldn’t keep up with the rapid progress of 3dfx though and so was forgotten like various others. Tue Jun 30, 9: As the introduction approached, rumors of poor performance started circulating.

Do the drivers seem OK?? The Intelor i codenamed Auburnis a nm graphics processing unit using an AGP interface released by Intel in I don’t think i had particularly bad driver support.
The AGP Texture concept soon proved to be a tremendous error in design, anc the card had to constantly access the textures over a channel that was upwards of eight times slower than RAM placed on the graphics card itself.
Also, Znd could not get first Motoracer bilineary filtered with last driver.
It pretty much cemented the adoption of AGP which was Intel’s real goal. Probably similar to ane they did the Voodoo3 for 2k – 2D driver only, but that’s just a hypothesis. Recalling how they wrote their articles makes me kinda cringe though; they’re such old fuddy duddies.

Sega intended to use Real3D technology in Saturn 2 but price seemed too high for a home system. Maybe it is about time to make one?
Intel aborted the chip before high volume production and instead of improving they chose to scrap whole anr video business almost immediately. Graphics processing units Intel graphics. XP doesn’t have any drivers for the i that allow 3D acceleration.
